The Game System

"At Sixes and Sevens" is a Changeling: The Lost campaign that is a part of the New World of Darkness setting created by White Wolf Publishing.

For those unfamiliar with the Storyteller System, the game mechanics are rooted in the use of ten-sided dice (d10). You can check out an in-depth explanation of how the Storyteller systems works here.

Basic Glossary

  • Arcadia - The lands where the True Fae dwell, separated from the mortal realm by the Hedge. It is to this place where humans are taken and transformed into changelings.
  • changelings - Humans abducted by the True Fae that have been changed physically, mentally, and supernaturally in their durances in Arcadia, making them partially fae themselves.
  • Contract - An agreement, usually ancient, between the forces of nature and fae beings which allow the fae to have access to supernatural powers.
  • fae - This general term applies to all items, creatures, and entities which are infused with the magic and power of Arcadia or the Hedge.
  • fetch - A creation of random bits of detritus as a simulacrum of a human kidnapped by the True Fae to replace the abductee.
  • Gentry - Another term for the True Fae.
  • goblin fruit - The strange consumable plants that are fae in nature that grow in the Hedge which can imbue a variety of supernatural effects.
  • The Hedge - The wild, thorny and dangerous region that separates Arcadia from the mortal realm.
  • hobgoblin - A blanket name for the creatures that dwell in the Hedge.
  • hallow - A cultivated area of the Hedge that is used as a safe haven.
  • Keeper - The True Fae captor or master of a changeling while in Arcadia.
  • kith - The sub-grouping of affinities within a seeming, usually tied to a specific role, physical appearance, or function.
  • Mask - The illusory appearance of fae creatures to mortal eyes which allows them to "pass" in mortal society.
  • Mien - The true appearance and form of fae creatures.
  • motley - A grouping of changelings that form around a similar cause (e.g. friendship, missions, business).
  • Others - Another term for the True Fae.
  • pledge - An oath that has been bound within the Wyrd, interwoven into the threads of fate.
  • seeming - The type of changeling as defined by physical form and general function within Arcadia. Changelings of the same seeming had similar durances and possess the same benefits and drawbacks from their form.
  • token - Objects with fae power.
  • trod - A cultivated path through the Hedge. Also used to describe the location of portals between the Hedge and the mortal realm.
  • True Fae - The rulers of Arcadia: amoral, powerful, alien, and seemingly immortal beings that kidnap humans and transform them into changelings.
  • Wyrd - The raw elemental power of Faerie.
